Is it weird for a girl to want to be an auto mechanic?
get the clutch done, if the noise goes away when you press the pedal its the thrust bearing, on these peugeot's they quite often wear through the fingers on the pressure plateand make a real din. Gear selection can also become difficult and the pedal will feel heavier than usual.Faults with the gearbox usually cannot be made to go away but get it checked i cant see or hear it on here.
You should probably check with your car dealer to really try and figure out the problem.
I was driving in freeway when my car started to loose power and all of the saden stop?
It could just be vibration? Something that rattles just at engine idle speed, if that makes sense. My driver's side window won't roll back up?

it could be your thrust bearing on your clutchClear coating, tips and max number of coats?
sounds like the thrust bearing is on its way outHow do you remove the backseat in a 1995 honda accord?
Throwout bearing is getting dry.It could last for years still, or go out in a week.
Either way, it's going to need replacing. Or at least looked at.
I agree with russ...I have the same problem on my car.

Those rats living in the engine will make a funny noise now and then. Plus everytime you hit a homeless man it will mess the engine. oh well buy a new car ho.96 Stratus, just had rear brake shoes replaced 1 month ago, already grinding?!?

It is your throwout bearing going dry. Sometimes they can be lubed, probably best to just replace it. They usually cost around $100 to replace it, depending on the type of car. Not the easiest thing to do if you are not mechanically inclined.
What Is The Strangest Thing you Ever Found in your Air Filter?
Most of these answers are dead wrong. If it made noise when you press the clutch in, then a throw out bearing would be a likely problem because when the pedal is pressed is when that bearing is loaded. Since the noise goes away when you press your clutch pedal in, and this is when it stops, then this points to a transmission bearing. When the transmission input is not loaded, like at idle or when coming to a stop, it can move around on worn bearings, then when you push the clutch pedal in, no engine motion is transferred to the transmission and the shaft stops spinning, hence the noise goes away. When you release the clutch without loading the trans, like at idle, the input shaft spins and rattles, when you push the pedal in, the shaft stops and the noise goes away. I'm just trying to be really clear so that you understand what is happening. I would recommend getting an opinion from a repair facility, preferrably one that is Blue Seal rated, an elite certification given to only 3-4% of shops in the nation. Check ASE.com to find one. This is at least a direction for you to go in when you speak to them. If you have this professionally repaired I would expect new transmission bearings with labor to run in the ballpark of $1,500. Make sure that the warranty is at least one year, 12,000 miles on parts AND labor and that you feel comfortable with the way that they explain things and treat you. Hope this helps.Any body want anything from the shops?
It does it when in neutral with your foot off the clutch?Probably not the clutch thrust bearing, that normally complains when you press the pedal down.
Before panicking about internal gearbox noises, first check it isn't something simple like an exhaust shield rattling.
Sounds like the thrust bearing on the clutch is on its way out, take it down to your local garage and get it checked out.
