Question:
I recentely changed the oil and the filter in my 2001 ford explorer sport trac. My question is, will switching over to a K&N high performance oil filter hurt my engine?
Answers:
what performance parts can ya get for diesel's?
It won't hurt the engine, but the question should be "Will it HELP my engine?" If that engine has alot of miles, the answer is "No!"Reason? Because "high performance" oil filters trap smaller particles of junk in the oil. Older engines HAVE more junk circulating in the oil, so they clog high performance filters much sooner than standard filters. When that happens, the oil goes through the "oil by-pass" valve on the oil pump, and circulates without being filtered at all. Save some money, AND some costly repair. Use the OEM standard filter designed for your car. Motorcraft filters are made specifically FOR Ford vehicles, are less expensive than performance filters, but more expensive than bargain filters, and work better than both. Just use higher quality oil, and change it more frequently, say maybe 2500-3500 miles, or 90 days, whichever comes first.
anyone know where I could get a repair manual for a 1996 (N) Toyota Ipsum?
No. You are fine. How does engine braking work and when do you need to do this?
no...if anything it should improve it by filtering out more of the crud out of your oil. As long as you have it in place correctly then you shouldn't have any problems!Does anyone know where i can get a schematic for a 96 geo tracker manual transmission 4wd?
No it will not hurt your engine. Many oil filters are even manufactured by the same company.Nope
If it would, they would be foolish to market it, wouldn't they?
How can I get rid of the white, crusty, flakey film off my car?
no switching to a different filter shouldn't hurt it but it helps to switch the oil as well.I would check with an auto parts store just to be sure thoughNo a high performance oil filter will not impact you engine in any way unless you failed in the installation. A high performance filter merely indicates that the oil filter is performing above the minimum standards set as requirements for filtration and flow by the manufacture of the motor
Nope. It is more expensive but I find that I'm getting more miles between changes by using the K&N oil filter on my GMC 4.8 ltr.
