Chevy suburban 84 type of oil?

i was wondering what type of engine oil i should be putting in the suburban 84.example 10w40 or 10w30.

Your owners manual will tell you, but if you don't have it, Chevrolet has seldom (if ever) recommended anything other than 10w30 motor oil for their engines. Older vehicles, 10w40 is ok, it's only slightly thicker.
