2002 Chevy 2500HD 6.0L driving down the road and it acted like it was running out of gas. I turned around heading back home and the truck died. Was getting pulled into town and truck started and ran alright for a little while but acted lik it had little power. Filled up with gas and drove one mile it died again. Let it set for a couple hours started up but when I tried to give it gas it would die.

If it was the fuel pump, it probably wouldn't start up again.
Even if it is the fuel pump, changing the fuel filter should be changed regularly anyway, and it is much cheaper than a new fuel pump, so you might as well try that first!

A shop should be able to put a pressure gage in the oxygen sensor hole and check back pressure at various rpm. That will tell you quick if the converter is plugged.

COULD BE EITHER THE FILTER OR THE PUMP GETTING WEAK. YOU NEED TO HAVE ATLEAST 40 PSI TO THE RAILS FOR IT TO RUN PROPERLY. IT ALSO COULD BE THAT IT IS GETTING TO HOT AROUND THE FEUL LINES AND VAPOR LOCKING. WHICH MEANS THE FUEL IS GETTING HOT AND BOILING. BEST THING IS TAKE IT TO YOUR LOCAL MECHANIC AND HAVE HIM TEST THE FUEL PRESSURE FOR YOU AND DETERMINE IF IT IS THE PUMP, FILTER, OR POSSIBLY SOMETHING ELSE.
