Question:
I have a 2001 cougar and 4 months ago i got my front brake pads changed and the mechanics sais the rotors where good. Last week i washed my rims and my rotors were fine, then 2 days ago i noticed a weird grinding sound as i braked. Today i checked my front drivers side rotor and it is all scratched to ruins. It is only the drivers side though, and it sparks a little bit when braking?? Why is this happening? Is this the mechanics fault?

Problem with a 98 jeep cherokee stereo...some channels come in and out, and total power loss?
If the mechanic told you the parts were fine when he did your brakes, believe him. If he felt anything was wrong he would have sold you on more work than just the pads.
This is the tell tale sign of a seized up caliper. Will have to have the caliper replaced(recomend both sides), and replacing that bad rotor, and thus new pads. No, the mechanic is not at fault, is it just happened that the caliper failed later.
how to fix the airbag on my honda?
pads are worn down to bare metal. could be that rotor was warped. don't know why your mechanic didn't notice that? you might get free pads if they where life time but as for the rotor ouch man plus i hope the caliper wasn't sticking..knocking/pinging sound from underneath car when accelerating?
The mechanic could have messed up your pads and they could have fallen off. Take it back and make them fix it before you make it worse. Or crash.you need to check your brake pads the mechanic may not have replaced the pads and charged you for them. I'm sure the pad is worn for the rotor to be scratched
why does my truck move forward when i start it?
Your rotor can probably be machined and rebuilt brake calipers are in the $70 range. Rebuilt are as good as new as all they do is put new seals in them.why should i use 20/50 oil in a car with 200,000 miles?-- someone told me i should?
In my 35 years or so, I have never seen a stuck caliper. But I have seen the linings come off brand new brake pads after a few days. The glue used to bond the lining to the pad came unbonded. Take it back where you had the work done. Most pads today have a lifetime warranty.More Questions & Answers ...
