Used car have little documentation so pretty much use conventional refined oils.
Brands- Boy want to get in an argument- Skip Penzoil and Quaker State in the conventional category- They are pariffin based and I just don't like rebuilding the engines after a lifetime of those. I prefer castrol or valvoline, but havoline and Amoco, at all are OK

However, if your car has over 80-90 K miles, stick to good ole refined oil. I don't recommend even part synthetic, as synthetic oil contains some agressive cleaning chemicals which will quickly destroy old engine seals.
If you street race this 'rolla (lol) I would recommend Amsoil or Redline.

But if I were you, i'd probally put pennzoil platinum in it, just because you can get it buy one get one free every once in a while, so it's $3 for a synthetic.
