I have had a stuck lifter for 9months because of a oil leak, the leak is fixed but not the stuck lifter. After this happned i tryed using tranny fluid for 200miles and then got a oil change. But the lifter did not come loose,everything still works but it eats about 2quarts a week and ldles a little bit more than normal but deffinatly more noticeable. WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS?

A bad lifter has nothing to do with using oil. Also an oil leak will not cause a stuck lifter.Year, make, model and engine would help.

You could have just replaced the lifter, but odds are that you'll need to replace the engine now. Tranny fluid?Sounds like you need to replace the lifter. You might as well go ahead and replace the cam too. It would be a good time to gain a little extra HP if that's what you are looking for. You could also do an upper engine rebuild, get a valve job, new valve train and a cam.

The above answers always forget that sometimes it is nice to do somethings when you got the cash, like replace the camshaft and stuff. The only thing that happens is your car will not really run 100 percent smooth if the cam is off. But that means a little bad gas mileage but again, you could still be running for the next 5 years too.

replace the lifters. I am just guessing but I would say you have a gm motor. If so it is as easy as removing the intake and loosening the rockers so you can get the pushrods off of the lifters. then just pull them out indiviually and replace with new. EASY. Fords are relatively the same as are chrysler. IMPORTANT replace them ALL. you never know when the others will fail also.More Questions & Answers ...
