What is a spun bearing?
A couple of years back, consumers reports tested motor oils in a NY taxi fleet. They started with brand new engines, ran all the major brands, synthetics and some generic (cheap) oils. They tried several oil change intervals with each brand. At 80,000 miles they tore the engines down and weighed the bearings on a gram scale to see how much wear had occured. Their conclusion was that their was no significant difference in any of the oils or change intervals. Their recommendation was buy by price but to make sure the oil had the seal which states it meets the SAE requirements for gasoline engines. You'll her people swear by different brands and for synthetics but the consumers report was the ONLY scientific test I have ever seen done. I personally have been using Pennzoil for as long as I can remember and have a '68 Mustang that's got over 300,000 miles on it. I've driven every car I ever owned for 200,000 miles or more without an overhaul.

Amsoil or royal purple if your willing to spend the money, but for a more reasonable price and easy to get at most parts stores, hands down Mobil 1.
