Question:
Good afternoon,
I have a 95 Mitsubishi Mirage S A/T with a 1.5L engine. My car has been having some problems lately for about 2 weeks. The car has to be reved high to shift into drive, low or 2nd gear. It shifts perfect into reverse so my first guess was fluids. Had the oil changed, injectors cleaned and also the tranny fluid flushed and replaced however the filter for the tranny was not replaced. It seems to me that it's a pressure issue because I have the give a good quick rev and let it go down for it to shift into the gear so my next guess would be the detent or "kickdown cable" that needs adjustment? Does that sound right?? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks, Joe M

How do you remove unwanted paint?
My Guess Would Be Internal you've done all the right things so far(fluid ,flush etc.)I'd Be Doing the filter next(might give you better idea if full of metal bits)May be Electronic (need a diagnostic check on trans ) Sensor or switch I'm not sure how electronic they were in 95.
But It Does Sound Like pressure, A small valve internally more than likely.
The Kickdown cable is for when you pass a car,or climb a hill and accelerate the cable puts you in lower gear for better acceleration(same as down shifting a standard).I don't think its the cable.
