Question:
it starts when its cold outside but not when its warm two mechanics can not find what is wrong they tested the fuel pressure and its fine could it be a catalytic converter i had a tune up already
Answers:
New fuel sending unit and new fuel gauge. How do you match the two so it works correctly ?
first thing is did your mech do a code reading if your check engine light is on .... some times the check engine light bulb can burn out . 2 other cases is that the fuel pump might have some good fuel pressure as i went throught this problem on a ford trk changed all sensors as the codes read plus others it didn't come down to it i pulled the fuel pump from the tank and found that the screen attache to the pump was plugging up changed pump as well as screen since i had it out and everything worked fine started in every weather condition .. the most code reading i got on the trk was for the air flow sensor that was not the problem good luckWhat does the "Stingray" in Corvette Stingray stand for?
Probably an intermittent fault in your PCM, or possibly the ignition module. When it's hot outside, put the parts in the freezer one at a time, then take them out and test them on your car. Sounds stupid I know, but faults like that can be extremely difficult to reproduce, and therefore difficult to diagnose. A fault in a computer chip can be impossible to see by looking at it, and can completely dissapear temporarily when the component reaches an agreeable temp. You can't confirm a fault that isn't happening, and the shop probably doesn't want to hazard a guess, because if they replace a part, and it wasn't the problem, they would be in an awkward positoion. When should I replace my car battery ?
Assuming there were no codes to go on, you have to test these kind of faults while the car is not starting. If you drive it in and ask them to diagnose a "no start" condition, they will be unable to do any conclusive tests until the car is cold and "acting up".
Is it possible to use automotive paint in an airbrush?
There are two parts to a car starting/running...fuel/air mixture and spark. (there are a couple others, but we'll focus on those two)How do I know if my Transmission is slipping?
When your car is cold, the computer tells the injectors and Idle Air Control valve to open a certain amount...part of that, a major part really, is the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. If it is dirty, it isn't giving the right signal, so my first "guess" would be to have that sensor cleaned. It needs to be cleaned very carefully, as it uses tiny wires, but it may help. If it makes a difference, good...if not, then we move into stuck or dirty injectors.
