Question:
i started my car this mornign and it sounded like a diesel engine and almost cut out when it was idling.the engine was jumpy and garggling. almost sounded like a mean v-8 motor with the popping noise. i turned off the car and restarted it. Sounded almost the same.idled for 2 minutes. 3rd start sounded alittle better and smoothed out back to normal. I drove in real heavy rain for an hour yesterday. Live in FL Temp is about 70. Nothing drastic. My thoughts were water getting in the gas somehow/ or i bought bad gas (but i drove 30 miles after i bought it with no problem.) I drove to work today and the car runs like normal. I did notice the temp gauge go up and down according the the rpm's though. Never hit the danger zone though. what do u think this could be?

How much money am I looking at to have a pontiac sunfire lowered 2-3 inches?
Sounds like you had water get into the intake somehow since there was heavy rain. If it is running fine now I would try to trace where the water came through like cracks, water marks ,water in the intake ect. Before anything I would change the air filter and the spark plugs. Hope this helps!!It could be a bad head gasket. But I would change the distributor cap and wires out first. It is cheaper and easier for one. Not to mention that it sounded like it needed to dry out before it ran better. The thing that made me say head gasket though is the fact that the temp gauge was acting up. If you change the cap and wires and the temp gauge still does that then you have a bad head gasket.

it sounds like a moisture problem, open the an take a spray bottle and spray the plug wires, if you see any sparks change the plug wires( do it at night or a dark area). it may also be you ignition packsor distribiture cap, i would have a total electical tune up done which is going to run about $75-125.00When should you change differential fluids in a car?
It sounds like you got the spark plug wires wet. I think you have coil-on-plug, so if it happens again, just take them loose one at a time and spray inside the boots with WD-40.Where can I find basic auto repair info on the internet without paying and arm and a leg?
If you car was missing, it will make the engine run hot. Wierd as it sounds, it's true.
