Question:
Hello gurus,
My car runs fine but last night the MIL turned on. My mechanic is busy for a few days and i am anxious to find out what it is. I checked the obvious and these are what i find -
How do one know when a fuel regulator goes bad in your car.?
1) gas cap is tightly shut
2) checked the exhaust - its clear
3) there is no loss of power at any speed
4) there is no ticking / knocking sound from the engine.
5) the radiator neck has a few drops of coolant around it - i donno if its a leak
6) the engine doesnt overheat (i.e. the temperature needle always stays at 50%)
7) i got an oil change 1 month ago.
8) the transmission is fine
How to grease brake stop pads.?
If anyone could help me in guessing what it could be it ( or atleast tell me if it could be serious), it would be highly appreciated. I dont trust the other mechanics around my town and therefore hesitate to go to them.
How can I instal a new style radio into an old 79 F-150?
thanks in advance!

There are many components that work together in the engine to maintain optimal engine performance and economy.A service engine soon, or check engine light indicates that there is a sensor that is reading a condition that is "out of range".
Simply resetting the light does not solve the initial cause of the problem.
Replacing a number of parts trying to troubleshoot the problem in the hopes of getting the light to stay off is a tremendous waste of time and money.
The simplest, and most economical way to alleviate your issue, is to have the computer codes checked by a reputable shop to determine what caused the computer to signal you to begin with.
That being said, if per-chance you feel the need to reset the light in the hopes that it was a "glitch" of some kind, you could disconnect the negative battery terminal for a couple of minutes to clear the check engine light.
