Question:
On an MOT i Know The ABS light is Checked But Are The Brakes Checked To See if They Are Working??
Answers:
What Size tires can i put on my 1986 monte carlo ss without modifing anything?
The only check on the brakes in an MOT is that they stop the car, as long as they do this they pass.No the first answerer is not correct. They check the ABS light if it is on. My Isuzu failed because of this, even though I had the ABS fuse pulled out. The brakes are also checked for function, including the handbrake.
Of course they are. Each individaul brake is tested (normally on a roller brake tester) to check it's efficiency and for binding and grabbing. The brakes on each axle are also tested together for imbalance.
As for checking the function of the ABS, the brake rollers don't turn fast enough (only 2-3MPH) for ABS to work, so a good brake will generally lock when tested.
