they changed two tyres for me, I had asked them not to put the locking wheel nuts back on with the air wrench but guess what they did just that when I had a flat I had to get a recovery vehichle to get me off the motorway as I was unable to remove the locking wheel nut cos it was on so tight due to being put on with the air wrench when approached about the matter they deny all knowlege

I have had them on one occasion tighten the wheel nuts stupidly tight and rounded off the flats of the nuts. In the end, they paid to have the nuts cut off and hub replaced.

Another occasion, they actually left one of the wheel nuts off. I had the nuts specially ordered in, and had to pay for them. 2 months later I found that they had only put 3 out of 4 back in. Their response was 'it is ok to just have 3'. In which case, why don't the manufacturer's save money and just put three on in the first place.

If you demand to speak to the regional manager etc, you can get somewhere with them but the best advice is to avoid them like the plague, or stand at the window of the waiting room watching them!

Wheels have to be tightened to a certain torque ( especially Alloys ) and this often makes them hard to undo with the daft little tool in the boot. But because of liability reasons ie the wheel coming loose, they must tighten them to that torque. A pain in the bum I know.i went to national tyres today for two tyres tracking and balancing they wanted £102 but the tyres were buy one get one free rip off where do these company's get off charging so much

my sister went to kwik fit for a small problem with her exhaust, which they fixed, but then they said, "did you know that your tyres were bald" ?But earlier the same day she had the MOT done and they said the tyres were fine, and passed the car with an advisery note to get the exhaust fixed.

The above is probably not a reprisentation of all kwik fit places but it does nothing for thier reputation.
I'm afraid that in some branches (but not all) they do seem to employ monkeys. Any tyre fitter with any common sense would torque the nuts/studs up to the correct figure, using a torque wrench. They always have when I've used them, anyway, tho' whether that's down to me standing behind 'em I don't know!
As for winding 'em up tight because of potential liability, they're MORE at risk from not using the correct torque, as this can damage an alloy wheel and cause an accident.

Yes go in for 1 new tyre,they tell you that you need 4,or your exhaust is on the way out,your brakes will probably be dodgy as well,avoid kwik fit like the plague,the buggers can't even spell properly!I stopped using Kwik Fit after they quoted me £85 for a tyre, but i got the same make of tyre fitted at a different garage for £50. They are definately a rip off.
