What exactly was it, that your mechanic did to "repair" your car? For your information, ALL '95 to '99 model year Neons were notorious for head gaskets leaking engine oil. The oil leak was easily misdiagnosed as a rear main seal oil leak, due to the fact that oil would leak from the rear side of the engine where it migrates to the bottom of the transmission area similar in appearance to a rear main seal leak. How often does engine oil need to be added? The cost of the gasket kit from Chrysler is about $120.00. The repair is about 6 and half hours. You probably should have the head sent out to a machine shop for inspection and cleaning due to the age of the vehicle, should you choose to follow through with the repair. have your mechanic install new gasket on the heads and the oil pan and ask to have the oil pressure checked. If there is a lot of pressure it will keep blowing holes in the gasket.Where can I find direction in replacing oil pump in a 2000 Malibu?
Well, your mechanic is telling you the truth about as long as you keep oil in it it will be fine - but it still doesn't stop the mess on the floor. Any oil leak can be fixed - try another mechanic. And by the way, your "oil tank" is called an oil pan. It may be loose, but I'm sure it doesn't need replacing. There are several places the oil could be coming from. Your engine has a pump that pumps the oil all over the inside of the engine so it may be leaking from somewhere on top, on the side, the front, the back, or the bottom.please tell me what every mark between 1 inch and 2 inch is on a tape measure?
i agree find out what is leaking first, but like with my 93 truck it is cheaper to keep extra oil i the trunk, every seal is leaking and i dont want to pull the motor and rebuild it. or pay some guy 3 grand to do it for meIn california how often do I have to get a smog check?
Yes find out what he replaced on herre? A real common problem here for oil leaks is one: The oil sending unit and two: The rear cam sensor also. Both of this make a real bad oil leak. So find out what he did. Maybe it is time to find a new mechanic also.Who makes the best mid-sized trucks? Toyota, Chevy, Ford, or Dodge?
