how to replace a rearview mirror on 2000 expedition?
In older cars it was 10 and 2. Now that cars have airbags it is 9 and 3 to keep your arms out of the way if the airbags go off. With side airbags the recommendation is 8 and 4.M
Back before driver side airbags were a standard in automobiles, the common practice was the "10 & 2" hand positions. Once SRS became standard in cars, this was changed to the "3 & 9" position in an effort to reduce the number of injuries incurred from the airbag itself during a collision. Personally, Use whatever is most comfortable for you, as long as you are able to maintain control of the vehicle in any foreseeable situation.

A bit of a side note, one of the things they do not teach that I would recommend to anyone, is to keep your thumbs away from the inside of the wheel, especially during off-road or competition driving. Too many people get their thumbs broken by holding onto the wheel with their thumbs tucked between the spokes.

lft hand 12 right one on the shifter duh that is unless you drive a womanly automaticpower steering and battery light?
You place your hands on the steering wheel at "9 n 3". It was "10 n 2" up to 1994 when they began putting air bags into vehicles. They changed it because if you have your hands at "10 n 2" and your air bag deploys you are going to hit yourself in the face and most likely in the eyes. However, if you place your hands at "9 n 3" and your air bag deploys your hands are going to fall by your sides, no harm done to your face.10 and 2 is the old way. It is not safe with many cars with air bags if the bag goes off. Pick a position that places the forearm and hand where the airbag will not hit them if it goes off. This is most likely 9 and 3. Do not let anybody tell you different. For those that think one hand at 12 is safe, I suggest you consult a driver training school. And do not hook your thumbs around the wheel either.
