Ford Mondeo, high worring noise when turning corners, especially when in 2nd gear?

Valve train noise can be determined most of the time by putting a long screwdriver to the valve cover and then listening with your ear to the handle. I know, it sounds stupid, but it works. A lower end knock is usually identifiable by a "hollow" sound.
