Car waxing question...?

Question:
When you use a 24 ounce bottle of wax and wax a regular sized 4 door sedan, how much of the bottle are you supposed to use up? I have never done this before and I've only used up less than 1/4 of the bottle. Does that seem right? I used a "Mother's" spray on wax.
