Depends o how sharp you turn, could be the CVC joint or just the pressure relief valve in the power steering unit. Check your power steering fluid level.

Why does my son's merc van smell of sulphur (rotten eggs)?

is it a front wheel drive? rear? if you have a front wheel drive it could very well be yout cvs but it could be your tie rod ends also. Does this happen all the time?? i worked a t a shop where the rack and pinion would make strange noises in the morning only we called it morning sickness. look under the front and look at the rubber boots that are around you axles there are 2 on each axel see if they are torn and grease has ran out if so you probobley do have funky cv if they are in tact thenhave some one jack the car up and have a friend turn the wheel to the right and to the left all the way you look under and see where it is coming from cant see it try this m not big on additives but this stuff really works and it may help drain all of the power steering fluid out of your unit you can buy a cheap pump to do it then get some Lucas Power steering fluid it will say it helps to quiet down racks pour it in turn your wheel to the stops lsft and right keep pouring it in untill yu are just up on the bottom of the dip stick for the unit and then go for a ride it has helped alot of folks no help?? ahve your front end checked out Good luck

Don't get under the car unless you know what you're doing. If it hasn't had a lube job lately, try that first ($19.95 at Wal-Mart). If it is an old car (before 1990) it could be worn out. If it is newer and the lube job doesn't cure it, someone may have hit a curb or something which might cause some noise. In that case you might need a mechanic.
