Smoking out of tailpipe...........for 6 months...mild now(more noticeable at warmer temperatures)..smoke appears bluish out of tailpipe and side of car...140k miles...is it difficult to do a ring job on this engine?...do I have to pull the engine completely?

I've heard that rear valve cover gasket can leak oil badly down over oil pan(burning a quart every three weeks now)...which makes it look like the oil pan gasket is leaking( when actually it's not the oil pan gasket). Could this be the smoking problem too? It looks like the smoke is coming out of the side of the car as well as the exhaust.
is it the norm for auto body repair shops to use second hand parts?
How difficult is it to do a ring job(if's necessary)...how much should I expect to pay? Probably makes sense to replace the valve
cover gasket first then investigate doing a ring job?

if blue smoke is coming out of tail pipe it is not valve cover gasket. My mom had a dodge with 3.0l and it smoked bad it was the rings. I dont remember price but it was expensive. It maybe but doubtful valve seals or guides. Check for oil leaks, but that back corner is notorious for leaking. smoking out of the tail pipe could very well be rings or leaking valve guide seals. leaking valve cover gasket burn on the tail pipe creating smoke at that point, not out of the tail pipe but on the exhaust pipe! Doing the work requires major work to the engine if you want to replace the rings you need to remove the pistons and more. Valve cover gasket is pretty easy and doesn't cost that much. To replace ring should be done by a reputable Mechanic or Service garage and it is not cheap!How much is it going to cost me to get my car repaired?!?
