Problem with getting truck to start?

Question:
I have a 1990 Ford Ranger 2.9L V-6 that I've changed the timing chain on. Now the problem is getting it started so that I can check the timing and set it. I've put the #1 cylynder TDC and made sure rotor was pointing to the #1 pin on the distributor cap. Also had to bypass the inertia switch. everything checks out and everything went by the book on rebuild and tear down. When trying to start it it acts like its trying to seize up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you sure that the timing chain went out? Are you sure that you got in on correctly? If you're one tooth off, that truck won't start. You need to line the timing marks up on the chain and sprockets and not the distributer.

i own a repair shop, and it sounds like it still may be out of time a little,if it wasn't it would turn over really good, but it sounds like it may be trying to fire on the wrong cylinders, try bringing no-1 back up,and make sure its on a compression stroke, this sounds like what may be wrong with it,i think if you,ll time it ,it will start, everybody including myself has made mistakes on these engines especially on the timing, try that though and see if it starts, good luck i hope this helps.
