Why not have the work done if you are asking whether or not you need to solder wires in your new(ish) Vibe? It isn't that expensive.Get a repair manual that explains how to pull the door panel.

Soldering is optional. Skill is important. The adage "the bigger the glob the better the job" is not true.
If you're replacing the speakers, you might as well replace the wiring as well. Stock speaker wiring usually sucks. But that entails yanking the radio and replacing the wiring to the plug, which can be involved.

Incidentally, you take a screwdriver and the panels will POP out. The speakers are usually the plug in, so when you replace your speaker you just plug the wires in to your new speaker. Now the only problem is to make sure you get the right size as most speakers are bolted in. So if you get some bigger ones you may have to attach with one bolt. That is what happened to me, but it works.
