Where does the coolant for your radiator go..where is the radiator?

The warning light on me car when on for the radiator/coolant warning is low. Where is the radiator in the bonnet of a car and how much coolant do I pour in. I have bought 5 litres, do I pour all of it in? What does a radiator look like? Please instruct me. thanks

My 1987 Caravan is leaking coolant from near the engine block, hoses seem ok. Any idea what's leaking?

If the low coolant level light is going on then you should also be having a problem with your car overheating. Coolant aka antifreeze is there for two reasons. The first reason is the reason is has its name. In really cold situations it helps to keep the water in the engine from freezing. Anti-freeze is usually made up of 50% anti-freeze (the green stuff) and 50% water. If the car had 100% water it would freeze if the temperature got below 0 degrees. Frozen water in your engine is not good. The other reason why there is anti-freeze in your car is because it helps reduce engine temperatures. Now the radiator helps cool down the engine also by cooling down the anti-freeze that passes through it. It does this by forcing the anti-freeze to pass through small vents in the radiator. While the anti-freeze passes through these vents cold air from the outside (while driving only) blows through the radiator helping to cool the anti-freeze that is passing through it. The radiator is usually located in the very front of your car. Pop the hood and look for a big fan infront of the engine. Right infront of the fan you should see the radiator. Its a big rectangular block that has a lot of curving horizontal strands of metal. You should also be able to see a lot of bugs stuck in the radiator. Just remember that it is in the front of the car right infront of the engine fan. Now, usually there are two places to put anti-freeze in your car. One is the top of the radiator. Once you locate the radiator look for a cap on top of it that says "anti-freeze" or "do not open while engine is hot." Open the cap with the engine cooled down to prevent getting burned and fill it up to the top. Now look for a plastic tank called a resovoir that has a small hose connected somewhere to the radiator. This plastic tank will have a cap on it also that says "anti-freeze only." I would fill that plastic tank up about half way. And that about sums it up.

read your owners manual. There will be a plastic resevoir with a symbol on the cap and add it there.

What do i do if i put a small amount of unleaded in a diesel engine?

The radiator is typically mounted behind the vehicle's front grille, with outside air driven through the radiator by the vehicle's forward motion, often supplemented by a fan

Does it really matter where I get my gas from?

When you add coolant, do so with the engine cold. Then remove the radiator cap. Fill the radiator completely full. If there is air in the radiator, then the engine can't suck coolant from the overflow tank. Put the cap back on the radiator. Then check the overflow tank and fill it to the cold mark as needed.

Small dent fix?

The amount of litre needed differs from one brand and kind of car to another. Just make sure you fill it up to the neck of the radiator cap.

New fuel sending unit and new fuel gauge. How do you match the two so it works correctly ?

Car Radiators usually located in the front of engine space and have attached a fan , electric or driven by belt, usually black in color with small metal fins to enlarge the cooling area. normally in the middle of the car's mask . It's the only thing that you can see from outside looking towards to the engine .

First of all ensure that, the engine is cold because the cooling circuit some times has pressure and hot steam.

My mechanic is saying my 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan needs a torque converter. How much will this cost me?

The most of new cars have a small semi transparent plastic vessel with size of 1 1/2 liter connected to radiator by a small rubber pipe .

I have been driving with no antifreeze. What are the consequences?

Normally on the cap have the symbol for water . but be carefully to distinguish it from others, windshield washers , brake liquid tank, etc.
If you located on the side have indication [ MIN - MAX].
