My black plastic bumpers are looking very grey and patchy?
Depending on what engine you have, you may be able to adjust the lifters. This involves resetting the preload on the lifters by adjusting the rocker arms, thereby increasing or decreasing the pressure between the lifters and the pushrods. To do this, you need to reference the maintenance manual for your vehicle and follow the procedures shown in it.
How much oil in 10 litres of fuel at 32:1?
Proper adjustmentIf they are hydraulic lifters, you can adjust them down until the noise goes away.If they are solid lifters, you need to adjust them with a wrench or two, maybe a screwdriver, and the proper feeler guage. Auto manuals,Haynes ,Clymers,Motor manual, will give detailed directions per vehicle motor.
i have an 1987 ford tempo but cant figure out whats wrong with it?
well what is the problem is your oil low or your oil pump still good if so than you might need to replace the lifters them selves. i would look into roller lifters you can gain power and reduce noise. but i would have it checked out first they shouldn't be making noise.89 Honda Prelude starting problem?
Are you using the right Octane fuel for your car, does it just do it under a load? Depending what make or model you have, lifter chatter can be caused by several things. If it is an older model you can pull the valve covers off and set them yourself if you are so inclined and know the proper procedure, otherwise let a certified Mech. look at it and determin the right fix.How do I reattach the rearview mirror in my 96 Honda Odyssey?
year and Model of Car ?Adjusting a bouncy transmission? (like a spring absorbing and releasing torque)?
Guessing... I would change the Oil and Filter 1st
Next is Q and A...
When did it start being noisy?
Has it been always there?
Was it over heated?
Off the question... All oil filters have a check valve, even just a simple spring over a flat piece of metal. This is if the filter gets stopped up with sludge and etc... Mazda B2200 and some honda's have a double check valve. So if the person changing it puts the wrong or fram filter on it lifter tick more than they should...

this problem may require more information but i will try and give u sum answers.there are two diffrent types of lifters one is a solid lifter and the other is a hydraulic lifter if u have a solid lifter set up in your engine and u have noisy tappets then u will need to have your valve clearences adjusted to there correct spec .THis is not a genral job and u may need to c ur mechanic if u havnt done this before. On the other hand if u have hydraulic lifters there r twothings that can cause noise.Has ur car been regurly serviced lack of oil changes will gum lifters up so they dont operate properly and create excessive valve clearences best way to overcome this is to put a bottle of engine oil flush in ur car run it 4 abouty 20 mins then drop the oil and change it with fresh stuff this may fix the prob .hope this helps more information on the car u r talking bout could lead to a more direct solution a wild guess i bet its a hyundai

Your car engine will have either mechanical or hydralic lifters, that in turn opperate tappets that open and close the valves.
They can be adjusted by someone who knows how,
If you haven't changed your engine oil and filter in a year, this might be a good time to do so,
