Ok so my boyfriend timing belt went out on his truck. He says it's going to take a month or two to fix it.

The Chevy S10 does not have a timing belt. GM uses a metal chain which requires no maintenance, never has to be replaced and quite frankly, never break.

Some belts need changed at 90,000 miles a timing chain can last up to 200,000. example its recomended to change the timing belt on VW at 85,000 miles and change the timing chain on a MB at 200,000 The could be possible major engine damage to the point of replacing the engine. In that case your bf may be shopping for another car.
