Question:
I have several dents in my Ford Ranger pick-up on the bed and on the front fender where I had a fenderbender. The truck runs well, but it couldn't get much uglier. I figured this might be a good auto maintenence project as I don't have the money to get a pro to do it. I am not the most handy with tools, although I can use them without hurting myself, mostly.

Auto body work is an art with a little science thrown in. You are essentially massaging metal to return it to its original shape. A dent is nothing more than stretched metal and it's not easy to get it back to what it originally looked like. A body technician uses a variety of tools to beat the metal into submission, and applies heat and cold to work it into a usable shape. It's not easy work, sometime very tedious, and physically demanding. I would give you an "A" for effort if you tried to fix your truck on your own but you could end up making it worse. Good luck. How do i change the headlight for my ford probe?
you probably can't make it worse than it already is so GO FOR IT !Where can you buy pinstriping brushes?
using filler to repair small dents is probably no brainer (large dents have to be beat out somewhere close then filled withbondo or other filler material)just use a flat object when sanding it down. The primer you can get in cans get sandable type again no brainer 240 to 320 grit paper until you cannot feel any differences when your run your hand over it. The final paint that's going to take some doing. f your painting whole truck need a compressor and sprayer auto parts place can set you up with the right reducers and such. If your just going to touch up paint it probably Will not match due to age of truck but it will be better than primer look..I have a '91 cherokee, runs while cranking then immediately dies when let off key?
