Question:
I have a 1993 Asian Combi bus. When i checked the A/C, there were only 2 aux fans working out of 4 that sit at the back of the bus. I got all 4 to work so there A/C works properly. Its a 24 v set up (2 x 12v in series), with a 24,v 75amp alternator.I just bought 2 new batteries, but after 3 weeks. 1 of them was ruined. At first i thought it was faulty bat. but then the replacement battery also went the same way. Then the alternator blew up. Is the extra load from the A/C the cause of all the problems. I been told to get 110amp alt. Will this solve the problem of ruining the battery? And why is only 1 battery ruined after 3 weeks?

What are the basics when replacing a diesel fuel injection pump?
Well, honestly, I don't know a whole lot about this type of vehicle. But, basic electrical theory allows me to say this. I would think that you are overtaxing that alternator a lot! To have 4 fans running at the same time is a lot, on top of the additional load from the A/C compressor running. I would first start with a new alternator.Secondly, the battery issue is unique. Because you have the batteries in series, if one is bad, it will lsow the whole system down. Now, in the same breath, I would definetley check the second battery that did not fail. Make sure it is fully charged before you put another battery in it. The combo of a weak alternator and weak battery could have been enough to damage the new battery.
