I have a Mercedes C250D sport 1994 , every morining it wont start and only starts when battery is nearly flat, I have replaced the battery and the glow plugs but every morning it has the same problem, once the car has started it is fine all day it starts first time but when it has been left for a long time i.e overnight it wont start, it will fire initially, but then i have to turn it over for ages without firing, then just as the battery is about to give up it fires up and then the car is ok all day, again, until it is left for a long time

HiIt sounds to all intents and purposes like you have a small air leak in one of the fuel lines which is causing the fuel to drain back into the tank during a long stand.

If you're sure the glowplugs are working okay, it's probably either a blocked fuel filter (unlikely or it'd be problematic all day) or a tiny leak in the fuel system allowing the fuel to drain back to the tank overnight . Then it has to pump the fuel all the way back up, which can take some considerable cranking.Time for a good diesel mechanic, methinks.

Hi!First off is to make sure you got the correct Battery & Glowplugs...
Sounds like it's to do with the choke..is it automatic?? is it sticking? you might be able to fit a manual choke...
Also if the starter motor is sticking (seizing) it might sound like it's going flat but just having problems turning over!

If your diesel vehicle will not start, turn the ignition on and observe the glow plug light illuminating, without starting the engine (position II). Wait until the glow plug light goes off before starting and crank the engine for 20 seconds until it starts. If the engine does not start, try repeating the procedure.
