Ticking from catalytic converter and poor gas mileage...?

Question:
Been told that some ticking from the exhaust is normal to hear after the car has been driven, but the ticking is pretty loud and continues for a good period and ive noticed it even when the car is on. In addition my car seems to be getting poor gas mileage. Not sure if they are related or what the problem is. My car has only 43k miles on it which is frustrating. Can't pinpoint the poor gas mileage as everything ie tires spark plugs, allignment, seem to be in good shape. Helpful advice appreciated thank you.

lets keep it simple. gas mileage-first check tire pressure, air filter, fuel filter have your fuel system cleaned and your transmission fluid changed. ticking noise-could be the heat shield that covers your exhaust, they can rust and break at a point and cause noise. worst case the catalitic converter is clogged have it replace asap. if not you might not be able to start your vehicle do to restricted exhaust

Sounds like the Catalytic convertor may be restricted. If the CAT. is getting too hot, the expanding and contracting metal will make a ticking noise. Good luck.

Yes,it sounds like your system is getting way too hot from a restricted catalytic converter.You are probably running rich for one reason or the other,which will clog the converter quicker.
