The key won't turn in the ignition of my minivan (town & country). I think it might be stuck in neutral.?

Had the happen with a dodge carvan - it was a dead battery, after jumper cables hooked up, the key turned. must have been a design in the keyswitch system.

Check the shift cable from your steering column to the transmission to make sure it isn't binding. Other wise have it towed to a competent mechanic.

I would flip the key upside down since it is a 2 sided key, if that don't work try out your spare key. If that don't work go to any Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep dealer along with your registration and a picture ID and have another key cut according to your VIN. Those are the most inexpensive avenues to take. If that don't work you may have a bad ignition cylinder. Hope that this helps. Good luck.

I have an engine and the internal parts are covered with sludge from a fire how would you clean it?

First make sure that the transmission is in park. Then while turning the key back to lock try turning the steering wheel until the key turns back to lock. If that won't work then the locking cable on the transmission is broken and will have to be replaced. I have a car with that problem now except I can't get it out of park and cannot remove the key.
