when you use remote or push button due you hear anything?if not check fuse and relay. if you do hear a slight noise remove door panel and reattach lock solenoid to lock.
the switch for the panel and dome light is located on the lock mechanism also check for connection here also and lube lock. the lock not moving freely is the most common cause of both problems.
you should lube the lock once a year to not have problems. I use WD40 and spray down into lock with door open then close and open a few time.
I've had same problem with 98 F-150 and 2001 ranger. just a little spray lube worked every time for me.

Check your relay for the power door locks it could need replacing I had the same problem on my car until I changed out the relay. As for the door ajar I have no ideas its possible that the sensor is broke and it's thinking that the door is open and when your door is open the dome light illuminates.More Questions & Answers ...
