Leaded fuel is gasoline where Tetraethyl Lead has been added to reduce engine knock or detonation and to raise the octane level of gasoline. Leaded fuel, Regular, Mid-Grade, and Super are no longer sold in most of the U.S. for use on public hiways.Gasoline with lead added to lubricate the valves. Older cars use it, and it's no longer legal to sell it in the U.S. for regular driving.
If you have an older car, like 1970 and older, you will have to buy a lead additive (available in most auto parts/accessories stores and speed shops). You could use regular gasoline alone, but this could cause the valves to pit and the valve seals to become brittle, and you would shortly have to overhaul your engine head due to oil consumption(burning).
How do you turn off the check engine light of a Mazda 2000 MPV?
Just to let you know, these cars are not catalysts, so if your location has an mandatory emmissions test, you can't pass with such a vehicle because of the lead content. Some states allow a waiver for non-catalysts, if your car is in top condition. You can also have the car modified as a catalyst, but this is expensive.
