Question:
My families 2000 Ford Taurus has a good amount of problems, some we know what they are, others we don't. We don't feel it would be wise to go for a new vehicle, as the costs of the repairs wont be near the cost of a different vehicle.
First, the car rides rough... We're pretty sure @LEAST the front struts need replaced (quite possibly, the rear as well).

Then, there's a "rear swaybar link" that the local Ford dealer talked about (after we took it in and complained about the rear making a "vibrating" noise sometimes when completely stopped).
In addition, there's front brake pads and rotors that have been warped, as well as the steering is a little juggling when driving on the highway (my guess is the front end needs realigned due to the strut problem)...
Is it my cat converter or an O2 sensor?
Any help anyone could give would be GREAT! :)

First I would say that a car 7 years old with any amount of miles on it made from ford motor company is going to have some problems...The ride problem is due to shocks and struts. Get them replaced. They don't have struts in the rear...shocks. Get the front brakes done. The front rotors are worn out. Do all of this for about 1,000 and you will have yourself close to a new car.counting a realignment. Hope the car is low mileage..Ford sucks..Get a chevy..they blow

the steering juggle is the tires are out of balance the taurus doesnt have rear struts front wheel drive cars have front struts rear shocks theirs a difference as for a rear swaybar link dont think so again the sway bar is a front wheel drive suspention partIs not having enought radiator fluid a cause for lowered gas mileage?
either are great, but i prefer Monroe..as for the breaks, change the rotors, and pads...there the life line o the abs system...the steering may be because of tires being wore or unbalanced.an alignment cost around 180..More Questions & Answers ...
