Build a funny car, and put your Chevelle emblem on it. You shouldn't have any problem.
Yes, it has been done...But expect to pay about $40 dollars a horsepower, and you'll need about 400 HP to get the job done. Nothing you can go to the local NAPA or autozone and bolt on. You'll need a good High performance aftermarket engine, or to rebuild what you have if it's a 327ci,that is...that will run you 8-10,000 dollars installed. Then choosing a transmission...another 4500-6000 dollars, reinforced rear axle housing, lead blanket for the tranny, new driveshaft, titanium u joints, Posi 4/11 rear end at the VERY least, ladder bar suspension, if axles aren't in excellent shape, aftermarkets will be needed there, Competion clutch/pressure plate/throwout berings, hurst makes a good short shift shifter, don't forget headers, a good intake, and then deciding on carbs, and that will depend on your fuel choice. Oh,. don't forget the blower...belt is cheaper than chain drive, but not as safe or dependable.
All this is going to run you around 35-40 thousand dollars, 10 grand less if you learn how to do the work yourself and can come up with the tools.

There is no way possilble you are getting a Chevelle with 400 horsepower down the quarter mile in lest than 12 seconds let alone 6 or 7 seconds...I have a supercharge 1987 Gt Mustang with 650 horsepower and I am not even close to 10 seconds...It is possible to put that chevelle out there with our the nitrious...But, the cost would be considerable, and I wouldnt be a Chevy Chevelle anymore...
