"Problem" code list for '03 VW Passat 1.8T? I've heard you can download them or get them from an auto parts

If so where can I find them on the net, which auto parts store? Are they refered to as problem codes? Is there a place on the dash or something that I can find these codes? So in a way (if they exist) its like doing a diagnostic check?

Why is it bad if you put too much oil in your car?

The Chilton or Haines Manual for your car has instuction for retrieving the diagnostic code without using the scanner. It typically involves insenrting a jumper wire between two of the connections for interface, turning the key on and count the flashing lights on the dash.
