VW POLO. Broken fog light switch!?

Question:
My 1993 Polo failed it's MOT on two things! The TELL TALE lite on the dashboard, for the fog light AND the fof light itself. The switch feels "funny" compared to the other switches, so am guessing the switch is the problem? Does anyone know if replacing the switch is a job that NEEDS to be done by the garage, RE: electrics? Or is it something I could get my neighbour to do? He is great with repairs, but away until Tuesday, re-test due on Thursday!! SORRY, not that great on cars!!

A doddle to do if its the switch, they just plug in at the back, pop it out with a screw driver and bobs your aunties husband.
