I don't believe it will destroy the paint but it will strip all the wax from your vehicle. If you wax it then wash it with detergent then you are working against yourself. You can buy car wash soap for very little cash and it won't strip the wax.

use car wash soap and wax it on at least a fairly regular schedule wax your headlights and taillights too keeps 'em from turning yellow and if you wax your glass it will keep it clean and give you alot better visibility in the rain NEVER wax your windshield tho the wipers will streak it you can use rain-X for that it just takes a little work to apply it with no steaks but they do make a washer fluid that works great
