Question:
Smokes when cold, stops when it warms up.
Answers:
My car oil consumption is very high. please how do i solve this problem.?
A quick valve guide test is while driving at 50 - 70 mph. suddenly release the gas petal. Oil smoke will roll from your tail pipe. Guide holes are drilled and honed oversize. New harden bronze wall or hardened steel guides are pressed in. The intake guide to valve stem clearance will be somewhere around .0015 - .0019" Exhaust will be .002" - .0025". total cost is going to spoil $1,500 - $2,000.I own a 1994 Saab 900s,some times the light check gearbox appears and the car stops shifting.?
The car has to be married to you to spend that much money!
How much will it cost to get a new Clutch?
4 to 5 hundred as a "conservative guess", since the head must be removed, valves removed, and the old guides drilled/reamed out first...I took apart my car and can't put it back. Help!?
It also could be "valve seals", rather than guides...OR the beginnings of worn out rings.
Any of the three is a lot of money for a 28 year old car, unless it's in pristine condition and is very reliable.
