Motorhome motor exhaust black when idling. Highway its o.k.?
paint it!! if you can't afford to have a professional do it at least go out and get a couple spraycans. You can spot in the rusty edges by taking 180-220 grit sand paper and "burning" the edges down to clean metal.Fold the sand paper and sand just along the edge til you see only clean shiny metal going over the edge just enough to take any perimiter rust out .Now take some finer 320 grit paper and sand out an inch or two just so your paint will stick.Take some wax and grease remover and clean it up to remove any dirt and oil left by your hands.Alcohol will work if you can't find the cleaner. Now tack it off with a clean rag,a "tack"rag if you can get one and hit it with a couple coats of primer from a spray can,you can buy it with the paint, just a couple nice coats not too heavy you don't have to cover it all in one shot put a coat down move on to your next spot and so on then go around and hit evrything with a second coat give it about 15 minutes then go around tack it all again to get the overspray off then a couple coats of paint the same way you did the primer but this time try to blend the edges out a little on your second or third coat so it dosen't look like just a glob of paint sitting there get artistic get some tape and make som graphics.Anyway you have to use the paint, primer will not seal the metal and it will just rust again.Make sure to use tape and paper/cardboard to mask off the areas you don't want to paint after all this work put some wax on your car it'll help keep the rust from coming back and most importantly keep the rest of the car from rusting, you should be able to get all this stuff at your local parts store...HAVE FUNCan you mix summer & winter washer fluid??
