I was about to have an automatic starter installed in my car and my friend told me it can ruin the car. I asked my mechanic and he told me it can be a problem since you'r messing with the inner workings of the car. Anyone have any ideas? BTW if it makes a difference it's a 2003 chevrolet impala

there is always a risk associated with aftermarket accessories. just find a reputable shop which specializes in installing starters and a few other accessories. many shops will do everything from body work to gps installation. try to stay away from a place that claims to do everything and you should be fine. if there are issues with your particular model, they will let you know they can't install it.1998 Toyota Sienna Engine check light on?
An automatic starter will not hurt a car if it's properly installed. The issue you might have is that yours might have a computer system that only lets you start the car with your key. This will need a bypass relay. This is why I haven't been in a rush to install one in my car.what does it mean when your battery lite stays on in your console?even with a new battery installed?

You would really only want this if you will be in sub freezing temps for long periods, like in Canada, Alaska, Minnesota, etc.misfiring due to electrical system?
