Stopping shock from car door, not your normal static shock either?

Question:
My Ford Explorer Sport Trac shocks me every time I get out of my car. It's not your normal static electricity either. It's a pretty powerful shock and all I have to do is get in the car, turn on the ignition then turn it off, step out and get shocked. No driving, rubbing clothes on seat, etc. Just turning on and off the car is enough. Is it possible something in my car isn't grounded correctly? is there something that's supposed to ground my car to the actual ground?

Answers:

my NO emmisions rose from 800 ppm to 1200 ppm after I installed a new EGR. Why?

Get some static spray for cloths and spray seats and carpet. Also get a rubber drag strap and have installed under car . check body grounds. A good upholstery man would know how to install static strips which will also stop this problem

Ignition Problems on a VW Polo?

Yeah I think that you're right in assuming something might not be grounded right. If it's under waranty still take it to a dealer and ask.

how much will it cost me to change a rim?

I have the same pboblem with my ford F250, the only thing I found that works is it let your passenger out first, they usually absorb the energy quite well.
Someone(one of my passengers) told me to spray the seats ect... with anti-static spray.

I have an issue with my Toyota 1990. I changed the Oil 2 weeks ago.?

Do you have cloth seats? The same thing happens with our van. And, you are rubbing clothes on the seat if you're getting in and out. In the wintertime the air is dry and static builds up more easily and frequently, especially with synthetic fabrics are involved.
Dryer sheets never worked for me, and I even got shocks after I got out of the car and touched a door handle of a store or the house. I also get shocks in the grocery store, pushing the cart around the vinyl floors.
Besides getting leather interior, which I did in our newest car, I can't offer any solutions because nothing helped me prevent those shocks.

how to replace wiring harness for my Ford EScort 1997?

well i'm having the same exact problem in my camry. one friend says to wash the car other says to spray water. honestly thinking its a bad idea. i mean water conducts electricity. however one friend is basically a mechanic so imma take his word on it and wash my car. also i'm going to try the static off for the interior. the shock was literallly visible. i could see the bolt! was thinking maybe i could turn it into something more positive.... ahah but i wanna handle it i'll let you know how it turns out.
