That's all a rebuilt alternator usually is. An cleaned up old alternator with new bearings. Just swap your old one for a rebuilt and let the pros have their $40 for doing the job. What is the normal PSI compression test for a 350chev engine??
Never heard of a 5 cyl.Chevy ?? Doesn't affect alt. any way. Are you sure it's the alt. ?? Sounds are really tricky. Do you have an idler pulley ? If you can, remove or loosen the belt that drives the alt. and see what happens. If you have a bad bearing you may be running belts too tight. Not worth the effort to replace brg's. Get a rebuilt they are every bit as good as new.How do I know if my catalytic converter needs to be changed?
check your local auto parts store for price and availability. they can test it while you have it out, might as well, you're going there anyways. after you get the price of the parts you might find a rebuilt is easier and cheaper. good luck!More Questions & Answers ...
