Question:
I have a problem with my butters 200amp AC/DC tig set. When i arc up using the foot pedal or button on the torch it wont go above 5amp. But when i take my foot off the pedal or switch off button the amps go up to wot there set at then back to 5amp!. With the cover off i can see a set of points that buzz with a blue spark when the amps go up when the pedal/button is releast. Iv had this welder from new & used it on & off for 3yrs without a problem untill now.

Why does my drive light on my 1992 honda accord blink?
I am told Butters are quite good with customers (I can not confirm myself as I have never dealt with them), but try contacting them. If you welder in only 3 years old, they might repair it for you for a reasonable fee.It was just a thumpidy thump!!?

Can a car battery die when you are driving?
If the relay is chattering, there is a short somewhere or the relay is bad. Most new tig welders change the current from starting to welding then again at finishing automatically so as to avoid burn through and penetration. it sounds like your welder is not switching to the mid setting for welding, with out seeing it i would suggest that the settings are not correct or you have a burned out relay/contactor. Best to take it to someone who can diagnose the fault if your not sure about electrics, if only relay damaged the repair should not be overly expensive.
