Question:
reverse is fine, no power going forward, will move very slow 1mph on level ground, but no chance of going up my drive. Any advise appreciated

Why is my 2.8 liter engine in my 1993 GMC Sonoma running so rich that it fouls the plugs?
If your reverse is fine, then it is likely that your foward gear bands are shot, since the reverse works, the torque converter is fine. You can also check the fliud level and look at the fluid, is it dark reddish-brown and has a burnt smell -> this is an indicator that the bands are gone. If the fluid is fine (bright red and clear) then it is possible you have a valve problem or something wrond with the linkage from the shifter to the transmission, since reverse is the first gear you go through from park and the drive gears are the furthest.
cut down car springs to balance out supension?? is it a wise idea?
