Emergency break?

Question:
My dad has driven a stick for a years. there are times i allow him to borrow my car so he does not have to drive his huge truck to far away meetings. I just found out that when he has used my car (which is auto) he will pull up the emg break after he turns the car off. he is not on a hill either. Is this bad for the car?

Answers:

TOO MUCH OIL= Damage?

The transmission park is just that, and is not to be relied on, as it can easily be broken, it is designed that way so should it accidentally be engaged whilst driving the only part damaged is the parking pawl and not the transmission, another scenario is your car is bumped by another car whilst parking, the parking pawl is broken and your car is free to roll away!! so as the other answerer's say always use your handbrake it's a good habit to get into.

Brake light swithch?

isn't that what your supposed to do. the emergency brake is just a new name for the hand brake. and the hand break is to stop your car from rolling away when you park. even on a perfectly flat place i would put the brake on. and no it will do absolutely no damage, in fact i would advise you to do it all the time

lock help thingy!?

No it isn't bad for the car. In fact, it's a good idea to use the emergency break every so often, regardless of whether you think you need it or not, to make sure it actually will work when you need it, and won't be siezed up.

I'm pretty sure your cars owner's manual will recommend that you use it every time you park the vehicle.

Just remember to release it before driving...or else it will be bad for your brake pads/rotors. :-D

Whenever you park your car you should have the emergency brake on - it is to prevent your car from rolling off in case your tranny gives out

How can you tell if your drier is bad, someone told me if it's cold while running the AC.?

It is a good idea, using the hand brake/park brake also assiste with the automatic adjuster of your rear brakes. (Especially with drum type brakes)
