Safest bet is to use a very sharp knife and cut it (lengthways) where it fits and buy a new hoseAnyone know how to remove a water pump from a 1998 safari van?
try a channel lock pliers. be very careful so you don't mash the tube. twist it back and forth before you try to pull it off. if you are going to toss the old hose, you can slit it long ways and then peel it off with a screw driver. How can I get the code to set the memory on a 1998 plymouth breeze.?

if the hose looks like it has signs of dry rot just cut it and replace , if not then it was most likely to small to begin with , if it is long enough you can cut a piece off and then slide it back on with a little warm soap water , if not then just replace it.LOL..

Does anyone know a cheap place to get an oil change in San Jose?
With that intent, I just manhandle the flexible hose side of it, bending it or twisting it to breakaway, one little bit at a time. It usually works pretty well.
Why won't my car Accelerate in first gear?
Be careful though, what you call a bracket is actually a nipple on the side of the radiator. Radiators aren't made of steel, and too much manhandling can break the thing right off, or internally damage the radiator... and that's a $200+ part.
My Car has a thump thump thump when i turn left anyone know why?
Be careful cutting it, because if you scratch the nipple with your knife, you'll now have a groove water can leak out through.
1977 Porche has 3,000 miles but hasn't run in 20 years. What am Iooking at to fix.?
Oh, and it's a good idea to replace em every 10 years or so, but never destroy one until you KNOW that the auto parts has the correct one for your car. I've had problems where the auto parts hands me a piece that's just wrong, or clearly for the [non?] air conditioned version of my car, or the part is no longer made.
If the latter, raid his stockroom and find 2 that have the right diameters and bends that you can splice together into what you need. Of course that adds more joints that can leak...
