My car is making a high pitched grinding noise, what could it be?

Question:
It started it about a week ago, and it does it as I'm driving. If I apply my brakes it stops. It gets worse as I turn my wheels, and I also noticed that when you put your car in "park" that usually the engine stops running so high, well mine sounds the same. What's going on?

Answers:

Car starts fine, shifter slides thru R N D very easily. Car will not move at all. Like stuck in park.?

It's the wear indicators on the brake pads rubbing on the rotor.

Do those mod chip you see on ebay really work?

You need new brakes.

Automotive?

it is..(music back ground...)
a pulley bearing.

Can i use my steering wheel controlls with an aftermarket head unit?

sound like either wheel bearnings or brakes. it is hard to tell with out actually looking at the vehicle, but i would get it checked out right away, as these 2 things are very dangerous if they malfuntion.
