Ca i fit a universal air filter to my cinqucento sporting?

Question:
ive been looking on ebay at universal air filters to replace the panel filter but i know nothing about cars and and im not sure where to attach it does anyone know? and if i attach it can i then take the old air box off? the only reason im not sure is because theres a few pipes and wires in it one bit looks like a thermostat and says ac so if theres any mechanics out there who know how to do it help me please!

You do not need any un wanted junk getting past your air cleaner, and on into your engine.any universial cleaner , if one exists, may not fit snug
