Roughly how much would it cost to repair a dent and probably replace my bumper?
Could just be a bad electrical connectionIT IS DEFINITELY A POSSIBILITY THAT YOUR FUEL PUMP IS GOING OUT, BUT I THINK IT'S A LITTLE STRANGE THAT IT RESTARTS AFTER YOU HIT THE TANK...BEFORE I RAN OUT AND PURCHASED A NEW PUMP I WOULD CHECK FOR LOOSE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS THAT POWER THE PUMP...THAT MAY REQUIRE DROPPING THE TANK BUT CAN SAVE YOU LOTS IN THE LONG RUN...GOOD LUCK.
are there any sites where i can find free auto repair advice?
When you bang it, you jar it loose so it can spin.Means the thing is near death.
the pump motor jams. you free it up by hitting the tank. the fuel pump needs to be replaced, hitting the tank may not keep working

Ground problemmy 1997 nissan sentra thermostat bolts wont tighten enough to hold a seal, how do i fix it?
Sounds more like a bad electrical connection. And that's good, because you can fix that without taking the tank off. Check the electrical connection at the point where the wire connects to the top (outside) of the fuel tank. Clean, repair or replace. I'd try that first.why do my locks in my 95' pathfinder lock me in and out of my car?
do not hit the fuel tank it is a risky proposition at best, electric fuel pumps with this problem are usually caused by running the fuel supply low and clogging the fuel filter which puts excess strain on the fuel pump diaphramMore Questions & Answers ...
