Slave cylinder?

Question:
So where is it located? Is it external easily seen or is it inside the transmission?

Answers:

Why do I need to have my brake fluid flushed? And how often should this be done?

It depends on the vehicle in question. You didn't state the year, make, or model of the vehicle you are referring to. Some are mounted externally on the transmission bellhousing, as others have already suggested. On some other models it may be a "concentric" type slave cylinder, which requires transmission removal to access. Hope this helps.

In most cases, the slave cylinder is located just outside the transmission. It's purpose is to actuate the clutch release bearing assembly. The slave cylincer acts as direction of motion changing device. They are simple cylinders with only a couple of seals and a dust cover. The system must be bled of all air after servicing as is the case with any hydraulic system.
